We are excited to kick-start the upcoming season, but we know our families have questions regarding these unprecedented times. Finding answers to your questions is important to us especially when hockey will look differently next season. We hope to provide clarity to the following most common questions and concerns:
The 2020/2021 Season: We have missed our extended hockey family and we could not be more excited to see everyone back at the rink in the fall! As of today, we are planning for a September start to hockey, which includes evaluations. What this season will look like will be determined by Alberta Health Services, Hockey Calgary, and our community facilities. McKnight Hockey will work within the modified playing definitions provided by these governing bodies and the provincial health regulations. Hockey Calgary will be sending out further details shortly, and once we have those details, we will provide our return to play plans to our members. Please stay tuned!
Fees: The impact of COVID-19 on the economy has been surreal and at the forefront of our budget conversations. We had to have difficult conversations because the reality of increased ice fees and insurance costs impact the association’s registration fees. It was with great effort from our Mustangs Team that we have been able to ensure registration fees would not increase this season, nor did they increase for the 2019-20 season.
Refund Policy: McKnight’s regular refund policy is posted on our website. We struggle to create policies and procedures around all the unforeseen scenarios that could present themselves this season. However, we would like to clarify in the unforeseen event, such as COVID-19 or other similar scenarios this season: if Alberta Health Services and/or Hockey Calgary must cancel our season to ensure the safety of our players, coaches and their families, a refund will be provided minus any unrecoverable and administrative costs to McKnight, a non-profit organization. We will continue to work diligently with our arenas, Hockey Calgary, and others external agencies to best service our members.
