When you are APPROVED to coach by the Coach Selection Committee for the hockey season, you will be required to register with Hockey Canada Registry (HCR). The use of this system for registration will enable McKnight Hockey to connect your application to your Hockey Canada Registry database which includes your qualifications, police information check and coaching history. By registering with HCR you will then be linked to the OFFICIAL ROSTER, and will be covered under the Hockey Calgary insurance program.
Failure to complete this task may result in a delay in your application as you will not be covered under Hockey Calgary Insurance to coach and you will not be allowed on the bench.
Your Hockey Canada Account Access for your player is ACTUALLY a "family" account. Therefore, use the same login email and password as you do for your HCR player registration.
Once you enter the Hockey Canada system you will be required to click on Register a Participant.
If you have previously coached or were a player yourself with Hockey Calgary, you WILL have a file. If you cannot connect to your file, please contact the McKnight Registrar, Cayley Young at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance. Do not create a new file as your history may be lost.
Scroll to the bottom and enter your name, birthdate and gender, once you have done this your file will come up.
If your file does not come up, please remember that you may be in the system under a different name, for example: James David Smith, your name could show up as James Smith, Jim Smith, Dave Smith, or JD Smith. If you still have troubles connecting your file, please contact the McKnight Registrar prior to proceeding.
If you have never coached or played you will need to create a new member - just follow the instructions.
Some of these questions in this process are mandatory for our players (noted with an asterisks *) and therefore appear on the coach application as well. If these questions do not apply to you (parental information - because you are the parent), you may simply put an "x" in these to move forward.
